Sometimes, you just get really lucky.

When things get rough (as things have been lately), I like to be reminded of the times when lady luck was on my side. No matter how big or small.

Like when I found these boots at Goodwill for 2.99$. I have gotten so many compliments on them lately that it almost makes me feel less weird to think that someone else’s (probably a 12 year old’s) feet used to be in them.

Like when Sebastian and I got this giant chip in our bag of salt and vinegar chips! :O It was almost the size of my hand. Naturally, I saved it to eat last. Then a few moments later, Sebastian pulled out a cluster of chips out of his bag of twisty chips! Highlight of our day.

And like when you find a wonderful boyfriend. Someone who you feel comfortable enough to share everything with and will support you with everything you do. Someone who can make your heart melt just by looking at them. Someone who will make you laugh even when you want to cry.

Ruby Foodie – Dessert, Anyone?

Let’s start off with the famous “Danishes”, aka Danish pastries! So flaky, buttery, and custardy. These ones are from a famous (chain) bakery in Copenhagen, you can find them everywhere.

The one on the right is a “kanelsnegle”, a cinnamon roll!

I (along with a few others, who shall remain anonymous) once gawked, pointed, and yelled through the glass of this bakery, trying to get them to stop throwing the day-old pastries away into garbage bags as they were closing up for the night. We may have been drunk.

[I know these things are just called “Danishes” sometimes, but I find that it could be misleading to say, “Mm I’m going to eat a lot of Danishes!”. Best to add “pastries” after it. #cannibalism]

It’s a good day when there are baked goods in the house.

Cake! Need I say more?

Note the little design printed on the paper under the cake; that little pretzel crown called a “Kringle”. It is a symbol for “bakery” in Denmark! Usually gold, it’s a traditional guild sign that is hung outside bakery shops!

This is Sebastian eating melted ice-cream. He tried to hide it, but I caught him. He took a break from playing Flow on his Ipad to scarf down melted ice-cream with a fork. Back off, ladies – this fine gentleman is mine.

We were at his grandma and grandpa’s house. They spoil us with all sorts of sweets! 🙂

Speaking of Ofelia Beach…

I ran across this silly picture Sebastian took of me one night when we went to watch Batman. He had been waiting all his life for this new Batman movie to come out, we pre-ordered tickets, and the day finally came. The movie was so great that we needed some time to reflect afterwards (lol). So we walked to Ofelia Beach, enjoyed the view of the sea on these chairs, and I made Sebastian take pictures of me. I miss those moments with him. :p
